Mr. R. T. (Rab) Summers

Chairman of Board of Summers-Taylor, Inc. Rab is a graduate of Duke University with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. He also graduated from Emory University with a Master Degree in Business. He joined Summers-Taylor, Inc. in 1969 as Executive Vice President. He was elected Chairman of Board of this Company in 1990.

Mr. Grant T. Summers

President of Summers-Taylor, Grant is a 2004 graduate of Duke University with a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. He also graduated from University of Michigan with a Masters Degree in Business in 2008. He currently is responsible for managing all operations. Additional responsibilities include owner/client negotiations, LEED, and environmental project coordination and management.

Mr. Ted Lane Bryant

Ted joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., in June 1990. He is currently Executive Vice President of Operations. Recent and current projects include various Wal-Marts, Lowe’s, multi-airport projects for Tennessee Aeronautical and various hospital and Tennessee D.O.T. projects. Also, Bowser Ridge Landfill for Johnson City, Greeneville-Greene County Landfill and Carter’s Valley Landfill. Prior to joining Summers-Taylor, Mr. Bryant was with Malone Brothers Construction Company 1978 to1990 and worked with various grading crews, paving and quarry operations. He was also foreman over survey crews and overseeing the placement of traffic control, environmental protection devices, and asphalt plant operations.

Mr. Danny Matthews

Danny  is a 1979 graduate of Appalachian State University.  He joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., in 1996 and is currently Vice President – Estimating.  Responsibilities for Summers-Taylor, Inc. include estimating and project tracking for the company.  Prior work experience includes Engineer/Estimator at Michael Construction Co. 1979-1982, Project Engineer S. J. Groves/Jasper Construction 1982-1987, and Chief Estimator for Hubbard Construction 1987-1996.

Mr. Christopher T. Hyder

Christopher, our CPA, graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1997 with a Master’s of Science degree.  He obtained two Bachelor of Business Administration (BS) degrees from East Tennessee State University with a concentration in Accounting and Finance during 2001 and 1994 respectfully.  He joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., in August 2013 as the company’s Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for all accounting, financial, and human resource activities.  Prior to joining Summers-Taylor, Inc., he was Corporate Controller for Concrete Supply Company, a subsidiary of Martin Marietta Materials Inc.

Mr. Scott Fuller

Scott, a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., November 3, 1997.  He is currently Vice President – Operations and is responsible for all grading, utility and bridge-building operations and scheduling of crews.  Recent projects include Home Depot (Bristol, VA), Wal-Mart Supercenters (Greeneville and Johnson City, TN), BFI Landfill, TCRA Taxiway “R” Extension, T.D.O.T. State Route 66, Persimmon Ridge 24 inch water transmission line, Army Corps of Engineers Flood Control Project, Jonesborough, TN.

Mr. John Loven

John is a 1994 graduate of East Tennessee State University. He joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., in 2009. He currently is Vice President – Ready Mix Concrete Division. His responsibilities include operations, sales, and quality control. Prior work experience includes Manager Ready Mix USA 2007-2009, Manager Rinker Materials 2004-2007, and Manager Loven Ready Mix 1995-2004.

Mr. Jesse Jacobsen

Jesse, our Safety Manager, has 10 years’ experience and the following certifications: American Red Cross CPR and AED Instructor, OSHA 510 & OSHA 500 Construction Instructor, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training, ATSSA National Flagger Instructor, ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor, Blasting Safety & Regulations, Explosives Control & Compliance, and Confined Space and Competent Person Excavation/Trenching.

Mr. Andrew Knipp

Andrew  is a graduate of R.E.T.S. Electronic Institute in Louisville, KY with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He joined Summers-Taylor, Inc., in April 2007 and is currently Vice President – Asphalt Facilities. His responsibilities include multiple TDOT project, State Aids, pricing for private F.O.B. customers from Bituminous index, material suppliers from quarries to asphalt terminals, efficiency, waste percentages, coordinate maintenance for asphalt plants, and he oversees the environmental management logs for EPA air permits.
